365/55 ~ Helping Hands ~

I love that the neighbor kids enjoy visiting our home.  We have an "empty nest" now, and it's funny to me how their parents are always so concerned that they are 'intruding' or 'bothering' us.  When we want to be alone, it's easy enough to let them know that, but most times we just think they are a joy to have around.  I want so much to tell them to enjoy every moment with their children, because when they are gone, they will be missed.

The other day two of my young friends came over to help me plant some marigold in my veggie garden...they were so excited to be able to help with this simple task...

365/54 ~ Safety ~

I don't know the names of more than a handful of birds, so I'm not sure who this adorable little gray gal is, but she was singing  nicely and tucked safely away inside the brambles of my Bouganvilla Tree.

~ Safety ~

I took this one from the ground using a 300 zoom.

I took this one from the platform of my son's old tree house (300 zoom)...
I felt so "National Geographic"...LOL

365/53 ~ Bouganvilla ~

After our freezes everything is SOOOOOO brown.  Down here in Tropical Florida,we are not use to everything being quite so ugly, LOL.  We don't snow that makes everything sparkle, just dead plants...sad.  However, it's always nice when something reminds us of where we live and that summer is just around the corner with her bright colors!

What are you looking forward to about Summer?

365/52 ~ Get Cookin' ~

Parsley....so many uses...Meatball ingredient, topping for Chicken Francese, flavor for Homemade Broth, adorable in a small flower arrangement, lovely on a plate next to some fancy shmancy dish! :)

But equally as happy just soaking up the sun in my herb garden...

This one I amped up the color a bit in Picnik, as it was a little washed out...

This is the natural form of the photo, I like the shadows and blurred framing...

What do you do with Parsley?

365/51 ~ Refreshing ~

I took this with the camera I'm testing out.  I had brought down the exposure a little bit using Picnik, and I softened it a little as well.  Other than that, I thought it came out nicely.

Would UV filters help at all with the exposure?

365/50 ~ New Camera??? ~

Well, I'm testing out a camera that is for sale.  The owner was kind enough to let us borrow the whole kit and caboodle to see what we think.  So far I'm not sure if I'm just really bad at taking photos or just don't know anything about cameras (I'm hoping it's this!). :)

I got home with it and took it outside to shoot around the yard...it seems to me it's brining too much light into the pictures (see below).

This first one is my daily entry as it was the best one I got, :(  .  Stormie is gorgeous, but these shots are all washed out.  Her coloring is bland...and in some (as you'll see below) it's as if a ton of light is coming into the photo.  The WB was on daylight, so I thought that would help???  Any thoughts?  Suggestions.

~ Stormie ~

Focus isn't all that great, and color is washed...

I actually like the softness in this shot, but not sure why it turned out this way...

Such a good model...

Same pose, only I moved in a little closer and the light totally changed???

She's done with modeling and would like to be rewarded now with a game of chase! :)

365/44 ~ Wounded ~

Because gardening is one of my passions, AND because we live in Tropical Florida, I have an abundance of tropical plants in my gardens.  These plants include 20+ pineapple plants which due to the fact that I only have "so many" sheets and towels, were not able to be covered during our freeze.  They are not dead, damaged, but not dead.  They are recovering with just a few wounds (the yellow spots)...

365*42 ~ View From My Window ~

I was having a seriuos creative block with finding a "reflection" that didn't use a mirror, lol...I looked at every puddle, fountain, and pond that I could find, but nothing was still enough, clear enough or pretty enough....

Then, as I was doing dishes, I looked down and there it was....

~ View From My Window ~

Not the best photo, but it was a fun reflection to just happen upon...it was in the faucet of my kitchen sink. :)

365/36 ~ Play? ~

My photo is down below this paragraph, but please read because I have a question for all you experts out there...or even if you don't consider yourself an expert but know something about cameras, LOL.

I need some advice on a possible camera purchase, so if you'd please leave your opinions/advice/warnings (lol) in my comments section, I'd really appreciated it.
Someone hubby knows slightly is selling the following: Canon Digital XTi (used, 1 yr old), 28-80 wide angle lens, promaster 70-300 telephoto lens, promaster macro lens w/1:1 matched adapter (I don't even know what that means), promaster 5550DX flash, UV filters for all lenses, ext. cord for remote flash, and carrying case.
He's asking $500 OBO, and said I could take it for a bit to see if I like it.

Well?  Good?  Bad?  Opinons?  Thoughts??

Ok, now onto our regularly scheduled programming... :)

My little girlie wasn't too keen on posing for pictures, she'd much rather I chase her and try to get her spider, lol..

I tried to brighten up the colors in Photoshop, I'm still in the baby stages of learning, soooo, maybe to blue?

365/32 ~ Three Generations ~

This past Saturday I attended my Neice's baby shower.  This may seem an odd choice for my upload, but I loved this shot.  This is the back of my sisters head, that is her daughter making eye contact with her accross the crowd of guests as she opens gifts.  I just thought it showed a sweet connection...Mother, Daughter/New Mommy, Grandchild. :)
