365/121 ~ First ~

First to open,
 First to see the sunshine,
First to feel the breeze,
First to taste the morning dew,
First to go to seed...
The first bud of a cluster.

365/116 ~ The Vine ~

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit."

365/115 ~ Fixin' Her Up ~

Sometimes I feel like we go through campers like some people go through newspapers, LOL....we buy them cheap, fix them up and then once they are "perfect" we get some idea of trying a different style or size or set-up...here we are on camper #5 or 6 (I think!)...

365/113 ~ Creature of the Night ~

This large spider was busy weaving her web last night.  Such fine workmanship, as she steadily went round and round.  The web, when finished was over 1 1/2 feet across.

We had to "google" this as we haven't seen on before.

From doing a search on "big fat round orange spider", we came to the conclusion that is is a 'type' of Orb Weaver Spider - there are many types.  On deeper research, I'm pretty sure it's called a Nocturnal Orb...which would make sense considering she was building this quite late at night.

Although it must hurt pretty bad to get bit by one of these (they are shy to biting though), their bites are not harmful to humans...whew!

They can make webs up to a Meter across, which can actually score a small bat or bird....WOW!
They take down, and often eat, their webs at the end of the night, making a new one each day.

There ya' go, your daily spider lesson all in one places, LOL.

365/112 ~ Spring ~

I am always just a little bit excited when I see the first leaves pop out on our huge Pecan tree.  Here is what I saw yesterday...

I edited this photo using Picnik.  I brightened the exposure a bit, then boosted the color just a touch.  Then I made it black and white all over except for the leaves.  The last touch up was using the "lomoish" button and museum matte framing.

Here is the original shot...

365/107 ~ The One That Got Away ~

Stormie chased a black snake out of my garden today.  He was a pretty good sized one, so there weren't too many places for him to hide.

He slides between her front paws as she destroys tills the soil around my Lavender...such a helpful dog... *sigh*...

He finally escaped her clumsy deadly grasp, and found a safe refuge under this wooden chest on the porch...

I thought I'd pop out there a bit later to see if he was sunning again, but he was still not quite sure if the crazy dog was about coast was clear...

365/106 ~ Shade ~

Here is a little Palm Tree Trivia for you...

Did you know that bats sleep during the day inside the folds of these palms?  It's very cool to sit out at dusk and watch them head out for the night.

365/100 ~ 100 Steps and 4 Directions...

We went to a field near the college with our best friends...I took 100 steps into the middle of the field and this is what I saw in 4 directions...

In the middle of the field is one single tree standing alone...

My best friends littlest one runnin' to join Aunt Kathy...I love him. :)

The gang...Hubby was flying his RC Planes...notice how the boys and girls are separated, LOL...

This group was doing a little practicing on the other side of the field with their Kite Surfing Kites...

365/99 ~ Lizard Hunters ~

I think I've mentioned before that I have several young friends who love to visit...it's not uncommon to find them rolling around in our front yard or riding their scooters up our driveway.

The other day, I heard some commotion on my front porch, and turned to see these 2 young men hunting lizards.  I asked them with a smile (and hidden exasperation) not to LAY thier bodies across my spider plant (poor spidey!).  Then I crouched down and listened intently as they told me with wide eyes that lizards actually lived under that chest on my porch!  Really?  I love their enthusiasm for life...we could all take a lesson from that!

365*95 ~ Water and Sky ~ Birthday Series and Easter Assignment

Mangroves grow along the edge of most waterways in Florida...I loved the reflection here and played a bit with softening and using B&W...

I didn't do anything to this photo, as I just loved the way it looked straight out of the camera...

As we enjoyed our meal (prepared for us on the Island)...we watched the sun go down and the moon rise...then we paddled back under the moonlight...

Spectacular!
"Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.  And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it."..."The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.  He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said'."

365/94 ~ Colorful Kayaks ~ Birthday Series

The Kayaks were colorful in themselves, but even lovlier when reflected off the water...

Just playing around with editing...what do you think of this???

This looked really nice in color, with the sun setting and glowing agaist them, but I like it more in B&W...

I should have thought to take this shot about 10 minutes earlier when the sun would have caught the tops a bit more...oh well, live and learn!

365/93 ~ The Birds and The Bees ~ Birthday Series

Some of the things we saw on our Kayak stroll...

I wish I could tell you the name of this very pompous bird, but I'm not certain of it.  Look closely at his red eyes...very cool!

When we arrived on the Island, one woman was saying (quite loudly) that a certain tree was covered with bees (insinuating we should find another island I suspect)...I immediately crept up as close as I could get to take pictures of these "scary" creatures....:)  I have a good relationship with bees, LOL...

I got a nice series of this guy taking off...

This bird was doing some sunset fishing....so serenely...
